California requires a smog check for most vehicles every two years, plus on change of ownership and out-of-state transfers. Here is what to expect.

When You Need One

• Biennial renewal for most vehicles from model year 1976 onward
• Change of ownership
• Registering a vehicle from out of state

What to Bring

Your DMV renewal notice or registration. That is it — we file the results with the DMV electronically, so there is no paperwork to drop off.

STAR Certified

We are a STAR-certified station, which means we can test and certify vehicles the DMV has flagged as requiring a STAR facility. Most checks take about 30 minutes.
